ABOUT PARKER

If you’re heading to Phoenix, Arizona soon, keep your eyes open for Parker Layton. You might be lucky enough to catch him in a coffeehouse or other intimate venue, doing a solo set of original material … and building the foundation for sure-fire stardom in the near future.

He’s already released two singles, “Keep In Touch” and “Worth It.” Both forecast bigger things to come for Parker, partly because of their similar craftsmanship but also because of how they differ from each other. Anchored onto a dynamic but nuanced rhythm bed, laced by tasteful synth-pop licks, “Keep In Touch” relates a critical moment in a relationship over an infectious groove. “Worth It” explores a web of romantic questions in a meditation that begins with introspective guitar, blossoms into brighter hues and ends where it began, with an acoustic guitar coda.

ABOUT PARKER

Growing up in Las Cruces, New Mexico with his mom and a stepdad who is part of a prominent farming family specializing in growing green chiles and onions, Parker Layton was a multi-talented kid who pursued his two great passions – music and athletics. Throughout middle and high school, he excelled at and played a total of four sports, including football and baseball. After some initial resistance at an early age, he took to the guitar and his chorus teacher was so impressed with his voice that she submitted him as a potential national anthem singer for the Sun Bowl. He also sang Josh Groban’s “You Raise Me Up” at his grade school graduation. Years later, he was playing baseball at the Phoenix College when one of his teammates heard him singing in the outfield during practice. “If I had a voice like yours,” he told Parker, “I wouldn’t be playing baseball.”
